Australia’s national centre for maritime collections, exhibitions, research and archaeology; the Australian National Maritime Museum shares stories of the sea.
Responsive Site Design
Custodians of Australia’s maritime heritage, the Australian National Maritime Museum communicates with audiences across the country through its diverse exhibitions, events and collections. We’ve worked closely with the Museum to foster this connection, developing a series of physical and digital experiences to extend its reach beyond Darling Harbour.
We began our journey with the Museum in early 2019, winning the pitch to design and develop digital foyer signage. Our informative series of animated screens captures a sense of human connection with the sea. Following this, we created a three-dimensional animated sting. It transforms the logo into liquid; breaking letterforms into individual fluid shapes which organically shift positions and depths.
An immersive online experience, sea.museum is more than a website – it’s a curated virtual space. Presenting a depth of content to a diverse demographic, it’s driven by a sense of exploration: encouraging users to dive deep as they discover the vast wealth of content available. Powered by Sitecore, it not only looks stunning – it’s also a top performer.
Encounters2020 provides a new lens on Australian history. We designed and developed a user generated platform for the exhibition, allowing audiences to post responses to a series of questions online and via Instagram. The result is an inclusive space for discovery, openness and shared experience – collecting local stories and commentary to become part of the Museum collection.
